Hello from the U.S. I recently found your website about Vitebsk, and Gorodok, and was very excited to find a mention of what might be my family- Zinman. My mother's family always said they were from Vitebsk, but no more specific than that. I recently found immigration records that I think are my mother's uncle and his family. Shiman Eli Zinman(n). Born 10/10/1877, immigrated 1910 to New York from Gorodok. He was married in Vitebsk to Hia Sorrah Kahn in 1901. Shiman's father was Chaim Zinman, and Shiman was one of 8 children, all born in Vitebsk. My question is, is there a way, from such a distance, to verify this, and to perhaps find out more information about the family? Thank you so very much, Martha Frankel Montana, USA mcfrank@earthlink.net |
