MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER
My great grandmother, Genia Leibovna (born in 1875), died in Vitebsk ghetto. Unfortunately, we do not know much about her. We know that she and my great grandfather, Moisey Bugakov, lived in Vitebsk and that they had seven children, including my grandfather Lev (leiba) Moiseyevich.
Among the brothers and sisters of my grandfather was Lusia Bugakova – mother of Masha Bruskina, killed by Nazis in Minsk in October, 1941. Great grandfather Moisey died in 1913, when the smallest child was only 2. The children left the house quite early and as a result Genia was left alone in Vitebsk.
From the information we have in our family, Genia married for the second time, and we are not aware of what her family name at the time of the war was. It happens so, that the only information we have about my great grandmother Genia is that she was killed by Nazis in the ghetto in Vitebsk. Actually, today nobody can say for sure where we received this information from. It is known, that one of my grandfather's brothers, Zalman, went to Vitebsk after the war. According to his daughters, during this trip he found out about the death of his mother. He never mentioned it again.
I realize that after so many years there is very little chance that someone remembers a woman named Genia Leibovna. If there are people who have any information about her, please let me know.
