MY GRANDFATHER BUKENGOLZ
My grandfather,
Aron Samuilovich Bukengolz and my grandmother, Sofia Mikhailovna Moreva. Photo made in evacuation, the town of Kanibadam, Tajik SSR, 1942. Perhaps, it is not very rational to start looking for relatives 70 years after the war. However, I have always been interested in finding out who my grandfather was and what family he had come from. My mother is Ukrainian and father's mother was Russian. All I have from my grandfather, who has been missing since 1943, is a photo of him and a birth certificate of my father, Yury Arnoldovich Bukengolz, where grandfather's name is written. Within these two years I have learnt who my grandfather was, due to the journal "Mishpoha" and the Internet. I was touched by Mikhail Gerchik's essay in the journal ("Mishpoha", nr. 16) and intuitively realized that the man named Orik actually was my grandfather. Oksana Barsukova |
