A lot of Jews used to live in Shepelevichi. Whe Germans arrived, they did not harm anyone for about two weeks. Then they assembled young men, about 12 people, and shot them at the Mokrovskoye cemetery not far from Oleshkovichi. In autumn Germans assembled the remaining Jews that lived in the village, around sixty people, except for old women and some children and shot them. The women and the children were taken to a place called Krugloye and murdered there.

Young girls Bunia Riger and Frada Riger with her twin brother escaped during the execution into the woods. They joined the partisans. After the war they came to visit Shepelevichi and lived in Mogilev.

My sister Nadia hid a young Jewish girl in her house during one of the anti-Jewish raids. Then she took the girl to the woods. I do not know what happened to her later.

Story about Shepelevichi from Ivan Drozdov

Many of the Jews in Shepelevichi were involved in trade and craftsmanship. Dome of them had their own shops. Their wives did not work as a rule.

They spoke their own language, as well as Belarusian. We knew only a few words in their language. Most of the Jews adhered to their religious traditions. There was no synagogue in the village, so they prayed in someone's house.

Jews and Belarusians were on good terms. Belarusians could easily borrow food in Jewish shops and pay later.
