Rabbi David ben Jehuda Luria (Radal).
Rabbi David ben Jehuda Luria (Radal) (1798) was one of the descendants of the ancient family of Luria, a well-known rabbi, author of comments to Tanach, etc. Rabbi David was born in Byhov in a famous family of a rabbi. From the very childhood he was very good at studying the Torah. At the age of five he knew the whole of Tanach with comments. AT the age of six he began studying Talmud. At the age of 13, rabbi David married a daughter of a well-known tradesman. At the age of 17 he finished his first work – comments to Brachot of Babilon Talmud. Then he wrote comments to Tanach and other books. Rabbi David was an outstanding public figure and took part in major discussions, connected with Jews and their life. He also studied modern Jewish literature in German and other languages. Rabbi David Luria died in Byhov at the age of 58. During his life he was involved in charity work, was good at many sciences, including medicine and knew several foreign languages. Alexander Litin
